Our Purpose
The purpose of the Society for Neuroscience West Texas Chapter shall be for educational and scientific advancement.
- To advance science education about the brain and the nervous system through lectures and workshops on neuroscience and related topics.
- To connect individuals and organizations from diverse backgrounds to facilitate the advancement and integration of local neuroscience activities.
- To identify recruitment and training opportunities for students in the neurosciences at partnering universities collaboratively with national SFN and other chapters.
- To provide networking and professional development opportunities for neuroscience trainees.
- To provide students and trainees opportunities to promote and engage in robust outreach activities to educate the public about neuroscience and nervous system disorders through events such as Brain Awareness Week, lectures for the general public, sharing information about neuroscience activities, and updating local policymakers about new developments in the field.
